The Communicator for BricsCAD license term must match the license term of the base BricsCAD product it runs on, whether that is a 1-year subscription, 3-year subscription or perpetual license.

BricsCAD License Types
SINGLE or NETWORK
SINGLE LICENSE (aka Standalone) = This license is authorized online through the BricsCAD licensing server.
A single license allows one user to install BricsCAD on two computers (such as a desktop and laptop), but only one instance may be used at a time.
NETWORK LICENSE (aka Floating) = This license is authorized through the BricsCAD license server or license manager.
Network licenses allow BricsCAD to be accessed from multiple computers within a network. The number of concurrent users is limited by the number of Network seats purchased.
BricsCAD License Terms
PERPETUAL OR SUBSCRIPTION
A PERPETUAL license provides ongoing rights to use BricsCAD indefinitely after a one-time purchase.
Purchase of one-year of Maintenance (updates and support) is required at the time of purchase for all new perpetual licenses. Maintenance renewals are optional.

A SUBSCRIPTION license provides time-limited access to BricsCAD. Subscriptions are typically available as 1- or 3-year terms and may include maintenance benefits such as updates and technical support throughout the subscription period.
BricsCAD Maintenance is a cost-effective way to get the most out of your BricsCAD licenses with expert product support and version upgrades.
One year of Maintenance is required with every new BricsCAD perpetual license. You can choose to renew your Maintenance starting in year two to continue receiving support and updates.
For BricsCAD subscriptions, Maintenance is always included for the duration of the subscription term.

BRICSYS END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT - v17 March 2025 EULA
This Bricsys End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between Bricsys NV, with its executive office and principal place of business at Bellevue 5/201, 9050 Ghent, Belgium ("Bricsys"), a subsidiary of the Swedish public company Hexagon AB, and you (the individual or the company on behalf of which this EULA is entered into) ("you", "your", "End-User-Licensee") for the Bricsys product, which may include online or electronic documentation ("SOFTWARE PRODUCT").
By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you accept this EULA on behalf of a company, you represent that you have the authority to bind that company to this EULA. If you do not have such authority or if you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, you must not accept this EULA and you may not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
SOFTWARE PRODUCT may refer to any of the BricsCAD products, depending on the choice you have made when purchasing or installing the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, including free versions, trial versions, beta versions, and Communicator.
1. SOFTWARE PRODUCT OWNERSHIP
This is a license agreement and not a sale. Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, including any code, images, animations, video, audio, music, text, third-party libraries, APIs, documentation, and any permitted copies, are owned by Bricsys or its suppliers, licensors, or affiliates and are protected by applicable copyright laws, international copyright treaties, and other intellectual property laws.
Absent a separate written agreement, your rights to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT are limited to those expressly granted in this EULA. Bricsys retains all rights not expressly granted. Nothing in this EULA constitutes a waiver of Bricsys’ intellectual property rights.
You may not remove or alter any copyright or trademark notices from any part of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, including electronic media, documentation, runtime resources, or web-enabled content.
Third-Party Libraries
The regular BricsCAD version (excluding BricsCAD Shape) uses FFmpeg under the LGPL v2.1 license. Bricsys does not own FFmpeg. Source files used to compile the binary are included as ffmpeg-3.0.2.tar.bz2. More information is available at www.ffmpeg.org.
The SOFTWARE PRODUCT contains Autodesk® FBX® code developed by Autodesk, Inc. Copyright © 2018 Autodesk, Inc. All rights reserved. This code is provided “as is” without warranties, and Autodesk disclaims all liability arising from its use.
2. GRANT OF LICENSE
Bricsys grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, subject to the terms of this EULA.
License Types
The SOFTWARE PRODUCT may be purchased as a single license, volume license, or network license.
A single license permits installation on one computer. Single licenses purchased before 17 March 2025 may also be installed on a second computer for backup purposes only, provided both copies are not used concurrently. Licenses purchased on or after 17 March 2025 may only be installed on one computer.
Volume licenses allow installation on the number of computers corresponding to the number of seats purchased. Network licenses allow installation on unlimited computers within a LAN, subject to concurrent user limits.
Perpetual and Subscription Licenses
Subscription licenses allow use for the duration of the subscription. Perpetual licenses allow use for an unspecified duration, subject to this EULA and system requirements.
Enhancements
Enhancements include upgrades, updates, modified versions, and additions to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Enhancements are subject to this EULA and may not increase the number of permitted installations beyond purchased licenses.
Territory
International list price licenses may be used worldwide except in countries subject to EU or US trade sanctions. Localized pricing applies only if the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is used exclusively in the country of purchase.
No Concurrent Use
Unless authorized by a network license or written consent, the SOFTWARE PRODUCT may not be shared or used by more than one user.
Not for Resale, Evaluation, and Academic Licenses
These licenses are restricted to non-commercial use such as testing, training, or demonstration and may not be distributed. Bricsys provides no warranties and may terminate such licenses at any time.
3–22. REMAINDER OF AGREEMENT
Sections 3 through 22 cover authorized users, permitted use, maintenance and technical support, plugins, assignment restrictions, duration and termination, data limitations, export laws, indemnification, data analytics, licensing systems, warranties, liability limitations, government restricted rights, governing law, audit rights, severability, headings, waiver, language, and updates.

Your box shipment will arrive approximately 14 business days after your order has been processed. Be aware that software purchases outside the United States will be fulfilled by download only. If you pay the extra charge for the physical shipment we will only provide a download link and will then refund the shipping charge.

Carlson’s desktop software must be installed with a CAD platform such as IntelliCAD, AutoCAD or embedded AutoCAD (OEM). Carlson Software includes a perpetual license of IntelliCAD with their “For CAD” modules but also allows users to install the program on top of your own separately purchased license of a full AutoCAD-based program such as AutoCAD, Map or Civil 3D.
Carlson Survey and Carlson Takeoff are the only 2 programs that can be purchased with an embedded AutoCAD (OEM) license.
ALL Carlson desktop products work natively in the latest DWG format. This means that you create DWG files, you open DWG files and you save DWG files – there is no need to import, export or convert to others using a different CAD-based program.
Your purchase of Carlson includes a perpetual license of the Carlson program and either IntelliCAD or embedded AutoCAD (OEM).
Carlson Software can be purchased as individual modules or by bundling 2 or more products at a discounted price so you only pay for what you need!
Carlson Civil Suite includes the Survey, Civil, Hydrology and GIS modules and compares to Autodesk Civil 3D.
Carlson CADnet is a single module that’s functionality is comparable to Autodesk Raster Design.
You can also use a Select Suite to build your own bundle of a Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5 or Pick 6 choosing from Survey, Civil, Hydrology, GIS, CADnet and Point Cloud Basic.
Carlson Takeoff Suite and Takeoff with embedded AutoCAD (OEM) is comparable to Paydirt (retired), Quest Construction and Agtek software programs.
All Carlson desktop software products provide a wide range of conversion and import and export functions for other file formats such as Civil 3d, LandXML, Topcon and Trimble.
For Carlson products that run with IntellliCAD and/or your separately purchased license of AutoCAD, Carlson offers users an Annual Maintenance program that keeps the software up to date. The purchase of Maintenance is optional and pricing is calculated at 10% of the retail price of the product per year.
Carlson Software offers free technical support from their main office to all Carlson Software users regardless of customer or license status.
Although users may find it difficult to install older Carlson desktop software on newer machines due to limitations of newer Windows operating systems, Carlson continues offering support for those versions.
Comparable to industry-standard engineering design software, Carlson Civil provides features for layer-based quantity takeoffs, 3D modeling, and construction estimating, including specialized commands like SiteNet for streamlined volume and material quantity calculations.
In addition to the functionality of the CAD-platform it’s running on top of and the identical commands available in the first 7 menus of all Carlson Desktop Software, Carlson Civil offers dynamic design and plan production for site, subdivision and roadway design engineers.
The commands and features in Carlson Civil are comparable to the engineering design components of programs such as: DCA/Softdesk/Land Desktop (retired), AutoCAD Map, Civil 3D, Eagle Point (retired), TerraModel (retired), GeoPak and InRoads.
Carlson Civil also provides users with the tools needed for layer-based quantity takeoffs and model building in the 3D Data and SiteNet menus. The commands in SiteNet are comparable to construction estimating software such as Paydirt, Quest and Agtek.
With Carlson Civil, users are able to:
- import and export data files for Civil 3d, Land Desktop, LandXML, Trimble, Topcon, Google Earth and more
- create and manage points in the drawing or in the CRD file editor
- use a variety of specialized commands to convert 2D linework to 3D using points, text with leaders, surface files, drawing entities and more
- use SiteNet, a layer-based feature that simplifies the process of estimating dirt and topsoil volumes and quantities of other materials such as subgrade volumes, length of curb and number of trees or other structures to be built or demolished
- create and manage surface model triangulation files from field data or importing from Google Earth or other sources
- view and perform quality checks on surface model files in various 3d viewers including a 3D Fly By
- calculate earthwork volumes for pads, stockpiles or between two surfaces and calculate adjustments required to balance cut and fill
- create cut/fill labels and color maps
- create and manage horizontal alignments
- create and manage profiles of ground elevations, roadways, sewer pipes and crossings
- design ditches and trenches
- calculate and report quantities and depths of pipe installation projects
- create and manage cross-sections
- dynamically design a network of roads with intersections and cul-de-sacs that automatically adjust and provide dynamic, real-time cut and fill volumes
- design and map single parcel boundaries or networks of subdivision lots that dynamically adjust to accommodate building footprint and setback restrictions.
